Tahmina Participates on Washington Women Lawyers Panel

Washington Women Lawyers (WWL) association is holding a series of town hall discussions throughout 2013 on “Plugging the Leaky Pipeline: Promoting Women’s Leadership in Our Legal Community”.   It is hoped that the series will empower women lawyers by ‘plugging the leaky pipe’ and help women in various aspects of their careers and personal lives. Here is a link to their website www.wwl.org.

The series kicked off today with “Networking and Mentoring” today.  I was very honored to be part of a distinguished panel that included the following renowned leaders in our legal community: Chief Justice Barbara Madsen, Washington State Supreme Court, Ms. Susan Fox, Member, Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland and Ms. Frances Jagla, Shareholder, Lane Powell.  The sold out event organized superbly by Ms. Pam Kohli Jacobson, Patent Attorney and Director of the Intellectual Property Group at Betts, Patterson, & Mines, P.S. and Ms. Shannon Lawless of Ryan, Swanson & Cleveland, had almost 80 people in attendance both in-person and by phone.

Much wisdom was shared by the expert panelists.  My favorite quote was from Ms. Jagla who said “If you like yourself, others will like you”.  I agree with her and believe her profound wisdom applies to any aspect of one’s life.  I hope those who attended walked away with invaluable guidance and suggestions for their practices.

Thank you Washington Women Lawyers for inviting me to speak.
