Tahmina Speaks at Event Marking One Year Anniversary of Muslim Travel Ban

It was one year ago that we faced the unprecedented travel ban that caused immense chaos at airports around the country and airports outside the US. Readers will recall my speech at the rally held that Sunday.  12 months later the chaos has calmed down but the profound effects of the ban are felt daily. The effects of the travel ban are felt on cases processing within the US.

The Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS) in Redmond, WA, has been a true leader in these dark times. To mark the occasion, MAPS is hosting a national conference of leaders across faiths- “Faith Over Fear”. Last night, Sunday January 28th, 2018, was the opening reception. Distinguished faith leaders from across the country have come together to collaborate and join forces.

Fearless leaders of King County and Washington state attended to show support and speak at the opening reception. MAPS-AMEN Exec. Director Aneelah Afzali, King County Executive Dow Constantine, Congresswoman Pramila Jayapal, WA State Sen. Manka Dhingra and ACLU-WA Assistant Director Michele Storms spoke.  I was very honored to be invited to be one of the opening speakers too. Much gratitude to MAPS and the organizers for the invitation and wishing for a successful conference that will bring much good to the country. Here are some photos from the event.
