In the last few years, H1b visas have been in high demand. Only 65,000 visas are issued each year (85,000 including applicants with Masters degrees). The number of applications had exceeded the limit within the first 24 hours. However, with the economic recession the country is facing, it is expected that the cap will not be reached in the first time in years. Thank you to members for providing your estimates of the anticipated volume of H-1B petitions to be filed with California Service Center under the FY2010 H-1B cap. This information has been provided to CSC.
Several members requested that the result of this informal poll be posted to InfoNet. We received 72 responses from members. Over 70% of respondents estimated that they will file less H-1B petitions under the FY2010 cap than under the FY2009 cap.
