On May 13, 2009, the Center for Children and Youth Justice held their Second Annual Norm Maleng Advocate for Youth Justice Award. The Center of Children and Youth Justice Center was created in 2006. It develops and coordinates programs and initiatives to reform child welfare and juvenile justice systems. It aims to create change that can be shared with other organizations and states nationwide to help create better systems and better lives for children and youth everywhere.
In attending this event today, I was impressed at the work they carry out. I also learned of the plight that many children suffer in a system that does not quite fulfill the needs they set out fulfill, if not fail such children. Thus the need for such an organization.
