KCWWL Judicial Appreciation Luncheon: On June 23, 2010, KCWWL held its annual Judicial Appreciation Luncheon. After Tahmina’s introductory speech, Honorable Judge Betty Fletcher presented her Betty Fletcher Judge of the Year Award to Federal Judge Lasnik. Federal Judge Ricardo Martinez was presented with the President’s Award. Court of Appeals Judge Marywave Van Deren received the Vanguard Award and Professor McMurtrie received the Friend of the Judiciary Award. The Luncheon was a fabulous success. It was held at the new Hyatt at Olive 8 hotel in downtown Seatttle. Over 300 people attended the event.
Chaya: On May 22, 2010, Chaya, a Seattle non-profit which assists battered women from a South Asian background, held its annual fundraising auction. Prominent people from the community attended. It was a raging success given the economy. Over 400 people attended the event. WIL was present as were other members of KCWWL.
