Today sees the passage of reauthorizing the Violence Against Women Act. There was bipartisan support today with 78-22 votes in Senate. The 2011 expired Act had put many Federal programs on hold as the Act provides grants to many state and local organizations the funds to assist with such matters. It must be noted that the immigration provisions had not expired so people have been able to file VAWA petitions in the interim.
