Immigration Help for Military Families- Parole in Place

On Friday November 15 2013, the Obama administration released a new policy memo to help undocumented family members of military families.   While immigration reform reaches a firm roadblock, President Obama continues his efforts to help using administrative avenues.

Called Parole in Place- the law already exists and is well utlized in certain circumstances.  The new policy expands the use of Parole in Place.  Now the spouse, parent and children of military members will be able to apply for Parole-in-place and one year later will be able to adjust their status (get a green card) regardless of the manner of entry into the US and regardless of current undocumented status.

Here is the story from the New York Times.  Also, the Associated Press wrote about this and here is their story as printed in the Denver Post.

This is a hugely important step taken by the administration for which they must be commended.   If you have any questions, you can call our office to learn more.
