Elena came to the United States from Kiev, then in the former Soviet Union, now Ukraine, as a refugee in the 1990s. Elena’s family left the Soviet Union due to religious persecution as Jews. 
Elena is an in-house attorney with a large company in the Seattle area. Prior to that, Elena worked at law firms in Boston and in Silicon Valley as a transactional attorney. Elena is a graduate of University of Pennsylvania’s Wharton School and of Harvard Law School.
Recent political developments have awakened Elena’s interest in civic involvement, and she volunteered for Hillary Clinton’s campaign by making phone calls to swing states. Since the election, her own experience as a refugee has motivated her to seek new ways to become more engaged in civic matters. In her free time, Elena loves to spend time with her family, including her two young daughters, and unwind with yoga and travel.
