A few moments ago, US Attorney General Jeff Sessions announced in a prepared speech that the 2012 President Obama program called Deferred Action for Childhood Arrival (DACA) is rescinded with a 6 month delay.
Watson Immigration Law is appalled at this cruel action taken against young adults who know nowhere but America as their home. AG Session said that rescinding #DACA is the compassionate thing to do and is in the best interest of America to do so. He refused to answer questions from reporters. As he scurried off stage, I heard one question asked from the audience whether the 800,000 DACA recipients’ information will be used. AG did not answer the question.
There is nothing compassionate about removing protection for 800,000 young adults who are members of our communities; who are our friends and family. America is no more safe or secure than it was yesterday. Our biggest threat is climate change, as evidenced by Hurricane Harvey and now Hurricane Irma. #DACA recipients are not our threat. They are the opposite. One #DACA person died trying to save a Harvey victim. “Compassion” is an important emotional word. AG did not show compassion in his rescission speech. His speech was merciless.
Watson Immigration Law urges Congress to take action immediately. Both Republicans and Democrats must come together and pass the Dream Act without delay.
