Tasveer’s Aaina 2018 annual festival is here again! In case you didn’t know, Aaina is a South Asian Women’s Festival in Seattle, WA with many thought-provoking events!
Tahmina Talks Immigration Show has two tickets to give away for Friday, March 23th and two tickets for Saturday, March 24th! First come first served!
Email me at [email protected] mentioning “Aaina 2018” in the subject line. The festival will be held at Seattle University’s Pigott Auditorium.
I will be presenting and answering all sorts of immigration questions at the festival’s Community Speaks event on Sunday, March 25th from 12 pm to 2 pm. Please join if you can!
The festival will start on Friday March 23rd at 7 pm with it’s leading event Yoni Ki Baat (a take on the Vagina Monologues). Here is what YKB is all about:
“Yoni Ki Baat is a collection of authentic, bold, vivid, tender, powerful, and poignant stories written and narrated by South Asian women, trans, and gender non-conforming community members. The narratives highlight special challenges and opportunities relevant in this socio-cultural context. YKB acknowledges that sexuality and that gender are essential–and sometimes fluid–aspects of identity, experience, and expression. Under the guidance of this year’s director, Uma Rao, the 13th Yoni Ki Baat will be a space that transforms and encourages South Asian women and trans people to express their challenges, hopes, dreams, breakdowns, and aspirations for change.”
Check out the schedule! I am excited to see my friends at Sanaya Set presenting on Saturday 24th! More to come on Sanaya Set from me soon!
If you do not know about Aaina, I hope you will find some time to visit the website and learn about the events. The South Asian community in Seattle and King County eagerly looks forward to this festival every year. I am honored to participate. And, if you do attend, please say hello!
Thank you Tasveer and all the hardworking organizers and performers!
