After much anticipation and significant delay, the visa bulletin for October 2020 was released this morning. October is the beginning of the new fiscal year. For visa bulletin purposes, it means counting all the visas that were not used in the past fiscal year, and ensuring those are added to the new fiscal year. You will notice many of the dates have advanced. It’s likely because visas were not being granted much of 2020.

Note that if your visa number is finally current, then congratulations! File as soon as possible. Remember that USCIS fees will increase on October 2nd 2020. And, as of this week, the dreaded public charge rules are back and implemented.
