The H1B season is upon us once again. While the USCIS has not announced a date for accepting applications yet, it will likely be around March 20th with the lottery selection on April 1st. This year we expect the electronic registration process to be similar to the past couple of years.
If you are considering filing an H1B for someone at your company, here are the top three things to keep in mind:
- Has your employee completed his/her undergraduate program yet? One must have graduated at the time of filing as a Bachelor’s degree is a minimum requirements.
- If the employee completed a Master’s degree in the US, was the school accredited? If not, the person will not fall within the coveted Master’s cap.
- Gather all the I-20s and transcripts for the employee.
While the registration process may seem simple, we have seen many people register in the wrong category. So, beware and prepare accordingly

Happy new year!
