Dear Clients and Readers,
I hope you are well. I am writing with urgency regarding President Trump’s new immigration proclamation, issued on June 4, 2025, and set to take effect on June 9, 2025, at 12:01 a.m. EDT.
This Executive Order imposes full or partial suspensions on entry into the U.S. for nationals of 19 countries due to national security and information-sharing concerns. While the stated aim is to protect the U.S. from individuals deemed a threat, the scope of this order is broad and deeply concerning, especially for immigrants, students, professionals, and families caught in transition.
🔴 Who is Affected?
- Nationals of 12 countries face a full suspension of immigrant and nonimmigrant visa entries:
Afghanistan, Burma, Chad, Republic of the Congo, Equatorial Guinea, Eritrea, Haiti, Iran, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Yemen - Nationals of 7 countries face a partial suspension of entry on specific visas (B-1/B-2, F, M, J) and immigrant categories:
Burundi, Cuba, Laos, Sierra Leone, Togo, Turkmenistan, Venezuela
⚠️ Key Points:
- If you are a national of one of the listed countries and currently outside the U.S., your ability to re-enter may be blocked starting June 9.
- Exceptions are limited and include lawful permanent residents (green card holders), dual nationals traveling on a non-restricted passport, and a few narrow visa classes (e.g., diplomats, adoption cases, SIVs).
- Visa holders already in the U.S. are not subject to this proclamation as long as they don’t leave.
✅ Action Items:
- If you are outside the U.S. and subject to the proclamation, return before June 8.
We strongly advise returning no later than June 8, 2025, to avoid being denied entry. - Do not travel internationally if you are from or connected to any of the listed countries, unless absolutely necessary.
- Ensure your immigration status and documents are in order. If your visa is expiring soon or your case is pending, contact us immediately to assess your options.
- Stay informed and cautious: Further changes or legal challenges may arise. We are closely monitoring the situation and will update you.
- Contact us if you are unsure whether this affects you. We are here to guide you through this and help you explore waivers, legal options, or emergency action if needed.
This proclamation is likely to cause confusion, delays, and hardship for many families, students, and professionals. We understand how upsetting this is and we are committed to supporting you during this time. Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any questions or require assistance.
With care and urgency,
