On June 17, 2009, King County Washington Women Lawyers held their annual signature event- the Judicial Appreciation Luncheon (JAL). The event was held at the grand Arctic Club hotel in downtown Seattle. Over 300 people attended of which over 50 were members of the judiciary ranging from the 9th Circuit Court to the Federal District Court to Adminstrative Judges. This year’s JAL was said to be the best yet.
The Betty Fletcher Judge of the Year Award recipient was Justice Mary Fairhurst, the President’s Award was received by The Honorable Ann Levinson (ret), the Vanguard Award recipient was The Honorable Steven C. Gonzalez and the Friend of the Judiciary Award was received by Ms. Ann Benson. The awardees have held very impressive careers and provide much help to the community. As the president-elect of KCWWL, I was honored to deliver the closing remarks.
