Sports brings people, communities and even countries together. The Seahawks, for example, have set Washington State on fire with excitement!
Seattle vistas are alight with Seahawks paraphernalia, 12th Man signs, and flags. The result? An exciting and historic win at the Super Bowl in which sheer will was a decisive factor in the outcome and the spirit of the 12th Man came shining through.
For those unfamiliar with football (like me), I needed my husband to explain how the 12th Man has been part of the Seahawks’ success this season. It is the audience. The audience thunderously cheering on their team and strategically deafening the opposing team from hearing each other, undulating not only the Seahawks’ spirit, but all Washingtonians.
Why is this important to immigration reform?
Just like football players need to hear the 12th Man, Congress needs to hear from its constituents. We, the people, are the 12th Man of this nation. We truly need our Congressional representatives to hear that we want immigration reform. We want it. The country wants and deserves it.
