I am very pleased to announce my next guest Martin Vallen on Tuesday July 19th 2016 at 10am PST! Martin is the Director of Programs and Strategic Development for Express Credit Union and Express Advantage.
For nearly six years, Martin has led the efforts of developing and implementing unique and innovative financial asset building products and
services that are responsive to the financial needs of underserved communities, including immigrant and refugee communities. Martin also manages Express’ financial education programs, community partnerships, and oversees its community outreach and access initiatives.
Martin’s passion and commitment to the mission of Express is rooted in the fundamental belief and principle of economic justice and equity for all. He strongly believes that the work of Express is a critical component of the pathway that leads to economic opportunity and mobility for those who are the most marginalized in our society.
Martin is also the co-chair of the King County Refugee Forum, which brings together representatives of community organizations and government agencies serving refugees and immigrants in the King County region to identify and help address issues facing refugee and immigrant communities. Martin’s professional background includes over 11 years of actively working in the areas of asset building, policy and advocacy, and direct social services, with a focus on racial and ethnic minorities.
