Interfaith Leader Aneelah Afzali on Tahmina’s Radio show 12/13/2016

73d43739-70fb-4517-8cdc-ecc03e6ccd96I am honored and grateful to announce that community and interfaith leader Aneelah Afzali, Executive Director of the newly established MAPS-AMEN program will appear on my radio show “Immigration with Tahmina” on Desi 1250am on Tuesday December 13th 2016 at 10am PST!

Our communities face uncertain times in the current political situation.  The president-elect has mentioned he wants to deport immigrants, introduce extreme vetting, a Muslim registry and so much more- all of which will deeply affect our communities.  Aneelah is a strong voice for immigrants, Muslim and minorities, and I am so excited she will take some time of her busy day to join us at Desi 1250am!

Aneelah Afzali is the founder and Executive Director of the American Muslim Empowerment Network (AMEN), a new initiative launched through the Muslim Association of Puget Sound (MAPS) to provide a strategic and visionary response to the challenges of our times.

Aneelah is an attorney and graduate of Harvard Law School who made partner at a law firm and led as General Counsel of a local healthcare IT company.  In addition to her legal practice, Aneelah co-founded MELAW — the Middle Eastern Legal Association of Washington — and served as inaugural president for two years.

Three years ago, Aneelah took a break from her legal career after a spiritual awakening and given the growing divisiveness in our country.  Since then, she has served as a community activist, interfaith leader, educator and presenter, guest preacher, events coordinator, strategic adviser, social justice advocate, mentor, seeker of knowledge, and volunteer attorney.

Aneelah graduated from the University of Oregon Honors College, and was named a Chayes International Service Fellow at Harvard Law School.  She enjoys traveling, snowboarding, and football, and is a proud Seahawks and Ducks fan!

This is an unmissable interview for our Desi 1250am listeners. With an uncertain future in a new administration for muslims and minorities, we need to be vigilant and ensure our voices are heard. Learn what you can do from Aneelah!

Tune in at 10am PST on Tuesday 13th December on your radio at 1250 am or livestream at www.desi1250am.com.  Download the app from the appstore. The show will be repeated on air at 8pm PST again this Friday.

Thank you to Aneelah Afzali for taking time out of her incredibly busy schedule. On behalf of myself, the listeners and Desi 1250am, we are honored and grateful!
