This morning, the US Supreme Court partially lifted the travel ban. The ban could potentially go into effect in about 72 hours. Specifically, SCOTUS will allow the Trump Administration to impose a 90-day ban on travelers from Libya, Iran, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen and a 120-day ban on all refugees entering the United States, EXCEPT that any such ban “may not be enforced against foreign nationals who have a credible claim of a bona fide relationship with a person or entity in the United States.” (see Section B at page 9). “For individuals, a close familial relationship is required. … As for entities, the relationship must be formal, documented, and formed in the ordinary course, rather than for the purpose of evading EO-2.” (p. 12)
There will be a suspension of refugees entering the US except for those who have familial relationships also.
While this seems like a blow to those of us fighting the travel ban, it is still a win that visa holders with family and work relationships in the US will still be able to travel into the US.
