Tahmina Attends Legal Foundation of Washington’s Goldmark Lunch

The Legal Foundation of Washington held its annual goldmarklunch on Friday, and it was truly meaningful and deeply inspiring.

As the organization celebrates its 40th year, there was a special remembrance honoring Charles Goldmark, whose life helped shape LFW. I had not previously heard the full story, and I was profoundly moved, both by the impact of his legacy and the sadness of how his family passed away. It was a powerful reminder of how one person’s commitment to justice can ripple across generations.

The keynote address was equally stirring. On the heels of the recent Supreme Court tariffs case victory, attorney Neal Katyal delivered a powerful message grounded in hope, resilience, and the enduring strength of the rule of law. At a time when so much feels uncertain, his words felt steadying and uplifting.

Most tender of all was the heartwarming-and heartbreaking-tribute to our beloved Kim Tran, who was also honored as this year’s award recipient. The depth and breadth of her work will be felt for generations to come.

On a personal level, I owe Kim a tremendous debt of gratitude for her mentorship, encouragement, and love. She contributed to the careers of many of us.

The event reminded me why this community and this work matter so very much.

It was a bonus to see so many dear friends.

Thanks to King County Bar Association for hosting a table.
