King County Sheriff Urquhart Talks Immigration on Tahmina’s Radio Show on May 2nd at 10am PST!

I am so honored to announce that my guest this week will be Sheriff Urquhart!  He serves as the chief county-level law enforcement official for 1.9 million people and oversees the 1000+ employees of the King County Sheriff’s Office. The He will appear on Tuesday May 2nd at 10am PST.  The role of law enforcement in immigration has never been so important and controversial. There is a struggle between the new administration’s vision of police powers and the realities and extent of police authority.  Sheriff Urqhart will talk to us about executive orders, sanctuary cities,  police authority, and much more!

Sheriff John Urquhart has served the citizens of Washington State as a police officer for over 41 years, the last 29 as a full-time member of the King County Sheriff’s Office.  His career has included stints as a Patrol Officer, Field Training Officer, Master Police Officer, Sergeant, street-level vice/narcotics detective, public information officer and administrative aide to two sheriffs. He has investigated everything from property crimes to homicides.  Early in his career he was selected by his peers as the Officer of the Year at his precinct and then as the Officer of the Year for the entire Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff Urquhart is a graduate of the prestigious FBI National Executive Institute. Growing up in North Seattle, after high school he attended the University of Washington, graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. He began a business in a nearby suburb, and grew the business for several years before selling it to pursue other interests.

Sheriff Urquhart retired in early 2012 and soon after filed to run for Sheriff.  A resounding victory in the November election made him King County’s 33rd Sheriff.

He  lives on the Eastside with his wife of 41 years.  They have two grown daughters and a Chesapeake Bay Retriever named Lulu.

Sheriff Urquhart will be on my radio talk show “Tahmina Talks Immigration” at 10am PST on Tuesday May 2nd at Desi 1250am.
