Special Announcement: Coming soon- Tahmina's Book- The Startup Visa!

tw-headshotSPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT:

It is with great pride and excitement that I announce the forthcoming publication of my first ever book!

“The Startup Visa- Key to Job Growth and Economic Prosperity in America”

Foreword written by the one and only Vivek Wadhwa and edited by Lornet Turnbull, preeminent journalist and former immigration reporter at The Seattle Times, this book promises to give rise to a dialogue about the need for a specific visa category for entrepreneurs.  The book will discuss how immigrants have helped shape the U.S. economy throughout history to current day, why the current visa options are not enough and why the global competition for entrepreneurs as well as the technology revolution is making the need urgent. The book also discusses the state of various bills stuck in Congress as well as changes that can be made without Congress. Written for law and policy makers and everyone in the startup echo system including founders, VCs, Angel investors and of course immigrants entrepreneurs, I hope the book will set in motion a conversation and movement for this visa. Knowledge is power.  I hope I help empower a community to be better advocates.

The book is currently in the process of design and print. Please let me know if you want to be on our email list to learn of first availability.  The official launch and book signing will be at the South by Southwest (SXSW) Interactive conference in Austin, TX on March 14 immediately after our presentation on this very issue (hopefully it will be printed by then!). If you are going to SXSW, please join me!

Thank you to everyone involved in this difficult process- it really does take a village. A huge thank you to Vivek Wadhwa for his support and encouragement, to Lornet Turnbull for her immense dedication, to Jenn Morgan and her team and to my incredibly patient paralegals Silviya Borroff and Nicole Lockett. And finally, a huge thank you to my husband for putting up with my insanity when it comes to immigration law and the never-ending book discussions thrown at him.

For any questions, please email me at [email protected].  Members of the press can email me at [email protected] or speak to Nicole Lockett at 206-292-5237.
